March 2, 2017

On February 28, 2017 the Committee on Tax and Customs Law of the Ukrainian Bar Association held the round table on “Tax Police: does the disturbing today mean the indistinct future?”. The Deputies, judges and experts in taxation discussed issues related to the reformation of the Tax Police.

Antonina Gorodetska, Senior of Counsel and Attorney at Law of  analyzed the statistics of the Tax Police’s work. 1098 criminal proceedings under Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were registered in 2016, in which 53 verdicts were delivered, where there are only 19 acquittals. It means that only 4,8 % of proceedings were considered in the court. This statistics clearly demonstrates the necessity of the liquidation of the Tax Police. Also Antonina analyzed the unfavorable statistics concerning the delivery of the court rulings on the temporary access and appointment of the tax audits. The Attorney at Law hopes that the Financial Police won’t allow mentioned mistakes and abuses.
