Maxim Oleksiyuk, the Partner of WTS Consulting LLC, has been elected as the Co-Chair of the Legal Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in 2015. Maxim Oleksiyuk will head the Committee along with Yuriy Zaluskyy (the Counsel of Baker & McKenzie CIS, Limited) and Serhiy Verlanov (the Senior Manager and Dispute Resolution Practice Leader, PwC).
At the position of the Co-Chair of the Committee Maxim is planning to reach a number of goals: setting up effective and fear justice, deregulation, eliminating corruption pressure through implementing clear and simple permissive procedures. His main aim is to bring a strong voice of ACC (lobbying members’ interests) to the government and parliament for the following:
- decrease of regulatory and controlling bodies and functions through implementing CMU Resolution #442 and further work on deregulation;
- establishing mechanism of responsibility of officials in the case the court repeatedly cancels their decision on imposing penalties on business entities, depriving such officials from the right to sign such documents (preliminary discussed with the State Regulatory Service);
- continuing work on court reform: shifting commercial disputes from courts to arbitration, evaluating judges based on ratio of their decisions cancelled by higher instances, etc.
Chamber Legal Committee focuses on the systematic solution of legal issues through submitting legislative initiatives, improving legal compliance and informing judges and other participants of the recent legal developments.
